3 Easy Steps to Give You the Self-confidence to Succeed

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." -Dale Carnegie

Successful people share many common character traits: a great idea, the drive to make their dreams come true, the ability to harness resources, and a strong work ethic, to name a few. However, the most powerful trait among them all is self-belief.

With self-belief comes the ability to recognise opportunities and seize them, the capacity to find creative solutions, the motivation to take action wherever necessary, and the talent to inspire others to help you achieve your goals.

When I started my first company, it was born out of a desire to create a platform that allowed people to improve their financial circumstances through simple, peer-to-peer Forex trading. I embarked on this journey with confidence, believing that I, Ref Wayne, had a great idea and the means to execute it, regardless of the odds of success or the challenges and adversities I might encounter.

In other words, I had self-belief.

To succeed in virtually anything in life, whether it's trading or business, you must have faith in yourself. You need to believe that you have the skills, abilities, behaviours, and even the appearance (if it's important to you) to achieve your dreams. However, these things don't materialise overnight, nor do they occur by chance. You must actively cultivate them, and the good news is that you can learn to believe in yourself as well!

Here's how. Keep in mind that these principles apply to virtually anything, not just trading:

Step 1: Set goals – Make them challenging yet achievable

Start by assessing your current situation. Then envision where you want to be, whether it's tomorrow, next week, next year, or five years from now – the timeframe doesn't matter as long as it's meaningful. Next, establish clear goals and ensure that you can easily measure your progress toward each one (because you can't manage what you can't measure). Finally, identify the first step toward each goal and make it a small one, so you can quickly experience the satisfaction of checking it off once you achieve it!

Step 2: Begin developing the necessary skills

Take a long, honest look at your skill set. Acknowledge the areas where you need to improve to advance toward your goals, and then work on acquiring those skills. Focus on the fundamentals and avoid overextending yourself or trying to be too clever because early failures might deter you from continuing. Stay positive by celebrating your successes and recognising your failures as valuable learning experiences. Remember, there are no mistakes; there are only opportunities for growth!

Step 3: Accelerate

With growing confidence, start pushing your boundaries. Revisit your goals and make them more ambitious! However, be cautious not to overcomplicate things. You've put in the hard work to pave your path to success, so build upon it. By now, you've cultivated a habit of learning, so prepare for the next stage by acquiring all the knowledge you need. This knowledge will boost your confidence and further nourish your self-belief.
